Dear Community Member,
I am pleased to share information on the 2019 Seva Charity Golf Classic to be held at the Country Hills Golf Club on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Thanks to the generous support of the community, the event has raised more than $200,000 over the past two years for the children and families who rely on the Alberta Children’s Hospital. In 2017 and 2018, we respectively chose to support the Vision Care and Pediatric Critical Care Transport programs. This year, we are thrilled to announce that the third edition of the tournament will support the Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT).
LITT is an innovative technology that allows surgeons to perform a revolutionary procedure to stop seizures. In this life-changing surgery, a laser probe is placed into the deep target within the brain through a millimeter-sized incision. The probe then heats up and destroys the tissue responsible for causing the seizures. In the past, children required a much more invasive and frightening procedure to achieve the same results. Length of hospital stay and complication rates will be reduced substantially by using LITT technology. With these benefits in mind, parents are more likely to consider this surgical option to improve their child’s quality of life.
As a baby, Beckett would suffer up to 30 seizures a day. Although he is now seizure free, thanks to the expertise of his neurosurgery team who removed a mass from his brain, it is children like Beckett who will benefit from LITT.
Community support is required to purchase the equipment and hardware to complement the existing neurosurgical suite. As we continue our journey to build healthier and happier futures for our children, it is our hope that you will join us in these efforts as an event sponsor, donor or player. Please see the link which outlines the opportunities available and contact me directly at 403-462-7930 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Thank you for your consideration,
